Portland is America’s Fittest City

With the growing obesity epidemic along with many American women becoming complacent and lazy with their looks, it can be frustrating if not depressing to see the pool of hotties shrinking across the country. It’s easy to have a grass is greener mentality when it comes to whatever city you live in. However there is a silver lining.

According to Men’s Fitness, Portland has been ranked the most fit city in the states.

In fact, 6.1% of all male residents ride their bikes to work, by far the highest ratio of any U.S. city. Portland isn’t just about cycling, though: 54.7% of adults in the Rose City perform at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five or more days per week. Temperatures rarely sink below freezing in winter months, and air quality and ozone levels are nearly perfect. Portlanders simply don’t like staying inside. Would you?

As the top-ranked locale in our Healthy City index, it makes sense that, according to the CDC,40.3% of Portland residents weigh in within healthy parameters. Fresh air, fresh food, a thriving fitness culture—and easy access to world class health care—make Portland tops.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, AskMen rated Portland #4.

AFI score: 67.7
Percent obese: 24.0%
Percent active: 54.7%

Just failing to crack the top 3 is Portland, Oregon, a city known for its rose gardens and freakishly fit residents. As one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world, Portland houses a comprehensive system of light rail and buses along with 92,000 acres of green space and more than 74 miles of hiking, running and biking trials, making it one of the most foot-friendly cities in the world (let alone the United States). Dog lovers, take note: Portland also boasts more dog parks than any of the other 49 cities surveyed in the AFI!

While these in no way take into account overall quality of women or our high percentage of Suicide Girl wannabees, single mothers, hipsters or otherwise, it’s nice knowing that you are more likely to see the female form as nature intended.

No. no way. Absolutely do not believe these stats. These mags are making stuff up to make Portland appear more attractive than it really is.

Go to ANY other West Coast city and you will see fewer morbidly obese. Men’s Fitness is smoking crack. Denver, Colorado and many other cities are much healthier and fitter than Portland.
